The 91st edition of the Vuelta a España promises to write a historic page in international cycling: the final four stages will be held in the Canary Islands, including Tenerife, between September 11 and 14, 2026.

The mountains will decide the race
One of the climbs promising spectacle and challenges to the limits will be Mount Teide (over 2,000 mt), a long, steady climb often used by professionals to train at altitude.
An event that has been awaited for 38 years
The Vuelta has not passed through the Canary Islands since 1988, when it started in Tenerife and included a team time trial in Gran Canaria: this new edition thus represents a momentous return after nearly four decades.
The agreement-yet to be made official
The Unipublic organization, together with the Canary Islands government and the Cabildos of Tenerife and Gran Canaria, has reached a general agreement to host the conclusion of the Vuelta in the Canary Islands, but the official signing has not yet been formalized. However, the project is reportedly in an advanced stage and with full intent to materialize in 2026.
