MTB Bike Tour Tenerife: Teide Easy Downhill
From Teide to the sea with ease
This mountain bike tour is one of the best sellers offered by Cycling in Tenerife, a leading group in cycling tours in the Canary Islands. The journey on two wheels will this time take us to discover the volcanic landscape of Teide, the giant of Tenerife and the Canaries, an itinerary offered by Cycling in Tenerife that has two characteristics: simplicity (being downhill, therefore also suitable for the less experienced), and the panorama it offers us, taking us to sea level in just over 45 km.
Itinerary
The journey will start from your hotel, where a minivan will take you to Izaña, the largest solar astronomical observatory in the world, located at an altitude of 2390 meters on the Teide volcano.
After the initial briefing and after having set up and adjusted the bikes, we will go to the entrance of our off-road route where, after a few kilometers, we will begin to see the south-east area of the island below, and to admire the municipality of El Medano from a distance, the crystalline waters of the Montana Amarilla bay, and all the old craters, which can be viewed from this altitude.
We will stop for a moment for a customary selfie, and then continue for about 16 kilometers of pure fun in total safety until we reach Valle de Arico, one of the coastal villages. Here we will temporarily leave the off-road itinerary and travel for about 10 km on asphalt and then resume the route off-road around Granadilla until we get to El Medano, where we will stop one last time before returning to the meeting point with our minivan. The tour presents a low level of difficulty both with mountain bikes and e-bikes. During the ride we will cross some short stretches of volcanic sand and packed dirt, but the tour remains simple even for those who do not have experience in off-road cycling, as it has been designed and structured specifically on quite wide and very safe roadways.
The Tour Guide
Accompanying you will be an experienced and professional guide, speaking English / Spanish / Italian, who will be able to give the right cycling tips to enable you to fully enjoy the landscapes you are going to discover.
