MTB Bike Tour Tenerife: Barbacoa – Corona Forestal
Between the green and the blue of Tenerife Island
This bike tour offered by Cycling in Tenerife, a leading group in cycling excursions to the Canary Islands, tackles a landscape suspended between the sea and the mountains, between parks and nature reserves, which will whiz alongside our journey of a medium-high difficulty route
This tour, on request, can be customized according to your physical ability, with Easy, Medium or Expert options, with departures from different altitudes.
Itinerary
The bike experience will start with the pick-up from your hotel by minivan. We will proceed to the starting point, which is located in the Contador Nature Reserve, at 1000 meters above sea level, passing through the sixteenth-century village of Villa de Arico.
After the initial briefing and taking care of setting up your bikes, we will begin our climb on a dirt path, which does not require special cycling techniques, pedaling towards the Izagna astronomical observatory. It will be a long climb of about 17 kilometers for 1300 meters D +, quite constant but demanding.
Once we reach Izagna, we will take a long downhill of about 20 km on dirt and some stretches of asphalt to the Valle de Guimar, passing through the Mirador de Pajara, where we will stop one last time before returning to the meeting point with our minivan.
Difficulty
The tour is of medium / high difficulty, both on mountain bikes and on e-bikes, not so much for the required cycling technique, but for the long climb of 17 km and 1300 mt D + that we will face. The descent, on the other hand, is quite simple, with wide roads which, even though unpaved, do not require experienced technical ability in off-road cycling downhill.
The Tour Guide
Accompanying you will be an experienced and professional guide, speaking English / Spanish / Italian, who will be able to give the right cycling tips to enable you to fully enjoy the landscapes you are going to discover.
